Bowery Bounce Back! Mansfield 1-0 Morecambe
Jordan Bowery finds his way back onto the score sheet for the first time in three games and to give the Stags a valuable three points in Sky Bet League Two after Saturday's victory over high flying Morecambe.
Nigel Clough made three changes going into the game, the injured Stephen McLaughlin made way for Mal Benning, with Jason Law and Kellan Gordon coming in for Harry Charsley and James Perch.
The Stags so nearly had the opening goal within 3 minutes, Jordan Bowery forcing a save from Letheren and the rebound falls to Jamie Reid who had timed his run perfectly to beat the offside trap but could only put his header over the bar.
21 minutes in and the Stags looked to counter through Jason Law but he was upended by Gibson and he received the first booking of the game,
Nigel Cloughs men had the breakthrough on 41 minutes after a great piece of footwork from Stephen Quinn, who then managed to deliver a dangerous ball into the box and Jordan Bowery timed his run to perfection to nip in just before the defender and place the ball past Letheren in the Shrimps goal.
Stephen Quinn nearly doubled the Stags lead on the stroke of half time but his shot was powered over the bar.
Bowery nearly had his second of the game in the 87th minutes but his header from Jason Law's cross didn't have enough power to beat the Shrimps 'keeper.
A first win in 5 for the Stags and a valuable three points and clean sheet.
Next up for the Stags is a trip to West Yorkshire and Bradford City.
