Stalemate at the JobServe
Updated: Mar 9
The Stags were left licking their wounds as Frank Noubles rescues a point for Colchester at the death.
Nigel Cloughs men went into the game looking to bounce back from Tuesday nights draw with Walsall and get another 3 points on the board and extend the run to 7 unbeaten, only one of those came to fruition.
After a cagey opening few moments it was the Stags who struck first within the first five minutes, George Maris whipping in a free-kick and found its way into the net, thanks to the stray foot of Tommy Smith.
The U’s drew themselves level just before the break, Callum Harriott with a fine finish, tucking the ball past Aidan Stone and into the far corner.
Referee Chris Sarginson was given a decision to make not long into the second half, Jordan Bowery with what looked a clear sight of goal and a push in the back from Josh Dougherty, the man in the middle electing to play on and the attack fizzled out for the Stags.
The Stags in the 81st minute had thought three points would be heading back to North Nottinghamshire with them, Jamie Reid with some quick feet and a delicate ball for stand in right back James Perch to slot past the U’s defence and into the back of the net.
All the Stags hard work was undone in the 89th minute, substitute Clampin picking up the ball in his own half and drives forward, the ball finds it’s way to Frank Nouble after ‘scorer James Perch seemed to let his man run free and Nouble lifted the ball high past the reaching Aidan Stone.
The Stags remain unbeaten in 2021 but will be wanting to make it three points as Bolton to come to the One Call Stadium Wednesday night, 5pm kick off, match passes available for this game. Go to https://www.mansfieldtown.net/news/2021/february/watch-stags-vs-bolton-live-on-ifollow-stags/'
